The inaugural BVI Festival and Arts activities came to an end yesterday, with a Mountain Top Art Gallery Showcase.
Residents who live in TORTOLA RENTALS
stopped to take a look at the Territory’s cultural history, while the event also attracted a number of tourists from the two cruise ships that were in port yesterday.
Hon. Delores Christopher, Fifth District Representative who spearheaded the Festival of Arts, stated that the activities were well thought out, and planned to take place over a period of a month, in an effort to get the community fully on-board.
‘Like you didn’t have the events coming fast on each other and that was for a purpose, to get the build-up, to get people prepared. In the beginning, the community was not so much aware of what it is you are trying to do or what art you are trying to bring out and the objective, but by now they have caught on,’ she said.
‘It’s the life of the people which the tourists also want to learn about; they want to find out what your culture is, lifestyle, what means a lot to you. They want to learn things about the country so this kind of activity fills that gap.’ she concluded.
