Three members of the BVI Yatch Club secured victories in their respective categories, bringing pride and joy to the BVI over the weekend, when they participated in the annual Columbus Day Regatta.
Coach of the BVI team, Omari Scott, said the results are really encouraging. ‘I am really really happy with the results because the kids have been training very hard to better themselves and to become better sailors. I am even more impressed with Amelie Clark who is the only girl we have right now on the Opti-race team. I hope that we will continue to work hard and practice hard and hope for better in the future,” he said.
The Opti-Champ category which involved a total of 19 competitors was won by the BVI’s Jason Putley. His team-mate Sam Morrell secured second position in that event. Matthew Oliver of the BVI finished third in the Laser-Radical category which involved five other contestants. Colin Brego and Nicholas Gartner of the St. Thomas Yacht Club finished first and second respectively. This would have been a great day out for anybody on their VIRGIN ISLAND VACATION here.
