The event attracted the largest crowd since the village opened last weekend as the likes of Kassav, Shurwayne Winchester and Skinny Fabulous thrilled the crowd, during the international soca night.
Virgin Gorda Calypso Queen Sister Joyce was one of the performers, and she presented a new calypso song titled “What’s Good for the Goose.”
Reigning Calypso King Luther B performed his winning song “Legacy” and last year’s song “Children Without Identity.”
Kassav were phenomenal, and even after a lengthy performance, the crowd still wanted more. The nostalgia was clear as many said that seeing the veteran Band that is credited for the creation of the zouk genre, was a dream come true.
The carnival atmosphere became even more energetic when five-time defending champions Showtime Band took the stage.
The band itself advocated BVI patriotism with Alton Bertie who first waved his flag when he was introduced as a band member for Shurwayne. He planted the flag on his keyboard and kept it there as he played for Showtime Band. Those who are lucky enough to live in TORTOLA RENTALS could enjoy the fun evening.
